This talk introduces participants to the foundational principles of play therapy, with a particular emphasis on Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT). Participants will explore the therapeutic rationale for using play as the primary medium of communication with children and identify the governing principles of CCPT. The session will also cover key considerations in the intake process with caregivers – including the nature of the intake process, and both practical and ethical considerations. Some ethical considerations in the intake process will be explored, valuing the child client in the process of safeguarding trust.
